Simpler skin,
more confidence

Thank you for taking time to visit our website, we are proud to introduce you to Simpler Skin – our laser treatment room based in the warm and welcoming city of Wolverhampton.

What we want to offer you is simple, we want you to walk away with the best results, using the best technology and most importantly feeling your best – confident and comfortable in your own skin. We look forward to seeing you.

Whilst this business is new our friendship and professional working relationship spans a decade. Having experienced the rigmarole of using various methods sometimes painful, often abrasive, always inconvenient and mostly short term solutions to getting rid of that stubborn unwanted hair – Laser hair removal was a game changer for us! We wanted to offer other people the same experience and results we achieved ourselves.

After having laser hair removal ourselves we know what a difference it can make. We can relate to those times where you shave your legs expecting to get results like you see in the adverts yet your legs still feel like sandpaper. The times when your patiently waiting weeks before you are ready for a wax, wincing at the thought of the lady tackling your lip hair with a piece of cotton when threading and also sneakily plucking out those unruly chin hairs when the other half isn’t looking. Yes we have been there and there is no shame in admitting this. We represent the voice of the customer having ourselves arrived at the best solution for unwanted hair through trial and error and education and training.

Whilst we both have very different career backgrounds we decided that we wanted to understand more about laser treatments specifically. We began our journey by completing the Laser Core of Knowledge and Advanced Skin Laser Applications courses with Lynton Laser training academy accredited by the University of Manchester. We have pursued further qualifications and accreditation’s specifically around cosmetic and laser treatments.

How is it pain free?

We are proud to be amongst the first in the UK to offer treatments using the brand new Motus AY laser. We are also able to offer treatments around skin pigmentation, skin rejuvenation, rosacea, thread veins and fungal nail treatments.

Treatments

We offer a safe, long-term solution to unwanted, excess hair for both men and women. Treatment is suitable for the face and body, is quick and results can be seen after just a few sessions.

How does light-assisted hair removal work?
Light is selectively absorbed by melanin, the pigment in the hair follicle. The light energy heats the pigment and effectively destroys the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding cells.

How is treatment carried out?
The applicator is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released, which targets many follicles simultaneously. The applicator is then moved to the neighbouring area of skin and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated.

Am I suitable for treatment?
Most people are suitable for treatment. Best results are often achieved with clients who have fair skin and dark hair. Dark hair is more easily treated as it has a high concentration of melanin. Fair hair, however, contains less melanin and is harder to treat. We recommend a consultation with your clinician to ascertain if the treatment will be successful for you. Grey/white hair has no melanin so is not suitable for treatment.

How does the treatment feel?
Treatment sensation varies but is often described as “a flick of an elastic band”. Typically no anaesthesia is required and most clients describe the discomfort as moderate and tolerable. Simpler skin offer a pain free treatment with the latest laser technology.

What will I see after the treatment?
The hair follicles are damaged by heat but the hairs remain in the follicles. The dead hairs shed after 1 – 3 weeks as the epidermis renews. During this period the hairs will seem to ‘grow’ as they are pushed out by the new epidermis.

How long does each treatment take?
Treatments can take as little as 10 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area.

Are there any side effects?
The skin may be red immediately after treatment and the hair follicles may be swollen and bumpy but this usually subsides within a few hours. Unwanted reactions are rare but may include a small blister or temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.

How many treatments are necessary?
Only hair that is actively growing is affected, therefore multiple treatments are needed. Treatment is conducted every 4 – 8 weeks, depending on the area treated, until a satisfactory result is seen. The required number of treatments varies, but typically 6 or more treatments are needed for optimum results.

Consultation Procedure
Prior to treatment, a consultation is conducted in which a medical history is taken to confirm suitability for treatment. This is also a good opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have. Before treatment commences you must provide written consent and a small test patch will be carried out.

Pigmented lesions such as sun spots and freckles can be successfully removed creating a more flawless, youthful and glowing appearance.

How does the treatment work?
Light is released in short pulses that are readily absorbed by the high concentration of melanin found within pigmented lesions. The rapid absorption of light energy heats the melanin and causes the destruction of the melanin-rich cells.

How is the treatment carried out?
The light applicator is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released. The applicator is then moved to the neighbouring area and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated. With Q-Switched Laser treatments due to the power of the Laser energy delivered into the skin, a small amount of pinpoint bleeding may occur during the treatment, and a dressing may be applied after the treatment to protect the skin while it heals. During treatment protective eye wear will be provided.

Am I suitable for treatment?
Most people are suitable for treatment except for very dark skinned or tanned individuals. However, large, dark, mottled or raised pigmentation cannot be treated and may need to be checked by a dermatologist. Large, dark moles should not be treated, nor should lesions covering a large part of the body. The pigmented marks that respond the best are superficial lesions such as those caused by sun damage (sun spots) and freckles.

How does the treatment feel?
Most patients describe the discomfort as mild and tolerable and no anaesthesia is required.

What should I expect after the treatment?
The treated area may feel warm and sensitive for the first few days post treatment. The lesions may darken and may appear more obvious before they fade and ‘flake’ away. Sometimes an initial whitening of the area is seen which quickly fades and the pigment gradually fades over the following few weeks.

Are there any side effects?
The skin that surrounds the pigmented lesion may become red immediately after treatment. Most people experience no other side effects and the redness usually disappears within hours to a few days. Very rarely a small blister may form or the skin may become temporarily lighter or darker.

How long does each treatment take?
The length of each treatment will depend on the type and size of lesion present, but a typical session will take 10 to 30 minutes.

How many treatments are necessary?
The number of treatments will depend on the type and size of the pigmented lesion but typically 1 to 3 sessions are required at 4 to 6 week intervals.

Consultation Procedure
Prior to treatment you must first undergo a consultation where details about your medical history are obtained in order to confirm suitability. Before proceeding you will be asked to sign a consent form and undergo a test patch.

We can provide a long term solution to facial problems such as red flushing (Rosacea), thread veins and red spots in just a few quick and easy treatments.

How does the treatment work?
Light energy is applied to the skin where it is readily absorbed by blood vessels, heating them to a point where they are destroyed. Following treatment, the vessels quickly clear as they are reabsorbed by the body, leaving little or no trace of the original lesion.

Which types of veins can be treated?
Most red skin lesions, including facial thread veins, rosacea, spider naevi, and port wine stains, can be treated very successfully. Depending on the lesions, leg vessels can also respond well to treatment.

How is the treatment carried out?
The light applicator is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released. The applicator is moved to the neighbouring area and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated. During treatment, protective eyewear will be provided.

Am I suitable for treatment?
Treatment is suitable for most people. Best results are obtained for those with fair skin, and there is less chance of side effects.

How does the treatment feel?
Treatment is mildly uncomfortable but there is no need for anaesthesia and the procedure is actually quite quick. Sensations vary but most describe it as a very quick hot pin prick.

Are there any side effects?
After treatment the area may feel warm for a few hours. Rarely, some delicate skin areas such as the cheeks or décolleté can be red and slightly swollen for up to 48 hours. Though very rare, there is a chance a small blister may form and there could be temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.

How long does each treatment take?
Treatments typically take from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the type and size of lesion.

How many treatments are necessary?
Typically 3 to 5 treatments are needed for optimum results, though small lesions may clear in just a single session. Repeat treatments are spaced every 4 to 6 weeks.

Consultation Procedure
Prior to treatment you must first undergo a consultation where details about your medical history are obtained in order to confirm suitability. Before proceeding you will be asked to sign a consent form and undergo a test patch.

How does the treatment work?
Light is absorbed by the water in the skin underneath and around the nail creating heat. This heat helps to destroy the dermatophytes and eliminate the fungal infection. The laser applicator is placed on the nail and a short pulse of light is released. The entire nail bed and nail matrix is then treated in this way.

How does the treatment feel?
A degree of heating and some discomfort is felt during treatment. However, a skin cooling device can be used to make treatment as comfortable as possible.

Are there any side effects?
The side-effects of laser treatments are generally mild and transient (unlike the side-effects of some of the medications used to treat fungal infections). The area may be red immediately after treatment and may be a little swollen and tender, but this usually subsides within a few hours. Unwanted reactions are rare but may include a small blister in the area around the nail, or temporary lightening or darkening of the skin. In rare cases, if the nail is very badly infected, the nail may fall off, but if this occurs, it will be replaced by a smoother, uninfected nail.

How many treatments are necessary?
Treatments are conducted every 4 to 6 weeks depending on the area being treated. The number of treatments required varies, although typically 2-4 treatments are needed for optimum results. These results become apparent as the nail grows out, and due to the slow rate of growth of toenails it may take several months for the full results to become apparent.

How long does treatment take?
Treatments generally take in the region of 30 minutes.
